I am very pleased to announce that as of the release of KiXforms 2.2.0, there is a new custom written Bug Tracking System for the library, which is available on the KiXforms web site. If you think you have found a bug, then please visit the Feedback page and submit your report, providing as much information as possible. The system is very straightforward to use and there is additional information concerning the bug handling process on the entry page.

If you happen to find a bug in the Bug Tracking System itself [Wink] then please e-mail me directly. Please note that the search engine is quite simple in terms of string handling (simple phrases rather than complex Boolean expressions), but there again, we hope that you will not find that many bugs anyway.

Rod.

Well just for you Jooel, if you tell me what the bug is I'll type it up for you. I would hate to drag you away from the Bulletin Board for more than a few minutes, who knows you might miss a post [Eek!] [Big Grin] [Wink]

Hi Jochen,

The "Submit New Bug" form utilises Javascript field validation to ensure that all fields have been correctly entered before the bug can be submitted to the database. If you go to the form, enter nothing and then click submit, you will get a popup alert requesting that you enter a valid Full Name. Enter your name (i.e. so the field is not blank) and then click submit again. You should find that this time the popup alert has changed to "Please enter a valid E-mail address". If this is not the case, and the validation code is still moaning about the Full Name field, then "Houston, we have a problem". What browser are you using, the Javascript has been successfully tested with most common browsers.

Ok, actually restarting my Office PC after installation of ie6 SP1 (Opera 6.0 and 7.0 showed a 403 error , and ie 5.0 failed due to 'Invalid Full Name' )

Will try to submit when back ...

Ok, we did find an issue with Netscape and Opera which is now fixed. The reason you were receiving an Error 403 - Forbidden is that URLs to Perl scripts are handled just slightly differently by those browsers compared to I.E. We have tested Netscape 4 and 6, Opera 6 and 7 and Explorer 4, 5 and 6, only I.E 4.x and 5.0 is giving us any grief with form validation and I'm sure I can get that fixed with time. Honestly, designing web sites to be truely cross browser compatible is a nightmare [Frown]

Kind regards,

Rod.

Here's an update for all interested in kixforms and the really wonderful Bug tracking System Rod built :

The code submit failures were due to (iirc) validation check on the form itself (characters like @ and / ) which is now fixed !

I think the Bug tracking System is now fully available for posts [Big Grin]
