bbChecker II 1.1

finally, got the fixes collected.

it's a long time ago we got the new general forum and bbChecker II did not deal with the change correctly.
this change lead to a fix after another.

now, they are collected in this full update.

current version (1.1) has every part changed/improved...

ofcourse we would like to have it better and this time I probably even have the time to update it more frequently.

main improvements include:
-slider does not steal the focus from current app
-fixed the wrong forum mixup caused by new forum
-improved speed
-the form does not anymore "hang" during page check
-installation does not force it's kixforms.dll but asks if different version found
-the shortcut(s) created nicely in start menu and includes shortcut for uninstallation

lot's of more minor things have come along and will be coming too.

currently anyway, I need to go to bed.

Re: bbChecker II 1.1

heh...

I was just going back and triple check things.

what I wonder is that I somehow got myself with un-exiting checker...
first time seen this, so it should not come up to regular user either... but anyway, have to re-logon...

Re: bbChecker II 1.1

ok - one thing though - been meaning to mention this for a while - your obviously not developing on Windows XP but, the MISC option window appears a bit "squished" when displayed on XP.

Think it has to do with the form height and width (especially the height). I think because the XP TitleBar is a little bit "taller" then some other OS's, the height of the form doesn't translate too well. Might want to use the ClientHeight and ClientWidth properties to specify the INSIDE dimensions of the form. This will get translated identically on all os's.

Just had to think of something to keep you up tonight ! [Wink]

Re: bbChecker II 1.1

hmmm - don't seem to be getting any updates - don't know whats up with that.

was studying your code Jooel ... I might suspect that this line:

while $httpObj.readystate<>4 $m.doevents(1) sleep 0.02 loop

might cause some grief - the uncaught doevents might pipe strings to the DOS console.

Re: bbChecker II 1.1

so it was that the output...

it was not often, like from once a day to 5 in a day...

if you don't get the updates, I wonder if there still is bug with what comes to xmlhttp-readystate in xp.
like, pat said it was ok and on the other hand, bryce said that it never changes.

don't know. as I said, no xp here.

Re: bbChecker II 1.1

Yeah - I was going to add a SUGGESTION to the SUGGESTION forum and ask Ruud to create a new SETOPTION for Kixtart - the option would be called:

$= SETOPTION("ExplicitOutput","ON")

or something like that ... can't really think of a good name for it because this un-caught return value thingy is kinda unique to Kixtart.

Anyways, what this option would do would be to discard any output that was not EXPLICITY sent to the console ... but as I was thinking through the idea ... realized that it would probably be almost impossible for Ruud to implement ... just a thought though.

Lonkero and Shawn... Nice Work Indeed

The program seems to work very well here at home and the slider portion is working very good as well.

An observations on new program.

1. Can not modify the "Post check interval" by typing a number of my choosing, only accepts pre-loaded values.

Re: bbChecker II 1.1

doc, is it good or bad thing?
as it did the same already in 1.0 release...
well, you could write it but it did not accept wrong values anyway.

I actually want it to be like that by the means of two causes:
1) prevents putting really low checktime and accidentall spamming of the server
2) what longer time, that less of the posts you will catch. meaning, having 99 sec looptime will definitely loose some posts per day for you.

that's why I limited it.

Re: bbChecker II 1.1

where did you get that?

I have one problem though too. I ran checker whole night and at some point fell asleep.
I opened the misc to take of the beep and it hanged the whole script.
like, it does not get events.

Re: bbChecker II 1.1

I just got up. When I went to check the activity over the night, I notice a popup dialog annoucing the stack overflow. I should have viewed the last logged post in the history but didn't. I clicked OK and the application closed.

Sorry I can't give you more detail.

along the script, there are two modified things in the new package.
kix 4.12 beta1 (was 4.11)

little typo..

Buddyes

$fbb = $m.button("Buddies",$fbh.Left - 68,20,65,19)

This is cool... I wonder why I haven't used it before.
