Hmmm... WHY LOL...
Just curious how you want to use it... most of the newer scripts use WMI for gathering just about anything you want.
Oh well a quick STFW got me the file on the 2nd hit.

Neither is KiXtart unless you have a VERY old version and it also would be difficult to be networked and return this information to a Central location in DOS

well.. actually im running kixtart 2.33 for dos without any big problems (but with quite a few limitations ).. This presents some installation menus (selecting NIC, OS, Appliactions and more) for the admin. All in all it makes (re-)installations of an new/old computer rather easy and almost 100% automatic. The easy part is to automate is windows. Its not to hard in dos either, but it takes a litte more to do it...
With smbios(2) i get some more infomartion to present to the user automatic...

Jooel,
You are right. How hard is it to update to 4.x? You would probably have to convince Management though.
Last I remember about SMBIOS, it was developed by IBM.

Les,
I realized that. I even offered another place to look (IBM). However, when doing a search on their site yielded not much.

You know.. WMI may not be out of the question here.. However it would take some coding to do..
In KiXtart 2.33, you could do a RUN "CSCRIPT WMISCRIPT.VBS"
Write the results needed to a text file and read in the data needed.

Actually, a better cmd-line smbios utility is pcpbios from PC Pitstop. It outputs to a text file that is *almost* an ini file and can easily be converted to one. In my testing, I thought it worked better than IBM's tool.
