raser,

Try tacking the hostname onto the front of the key, like this ...

$COMAPP = ReadValue("\\HOSTNAME\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders","Common AppData")

Then check the value of @ERROR. It it still doesn't work, try mapping an admin share first. If it still doesn't work, try mapping a drive to the machine, like C$ (this is actually what I have to end up doing when reading remote registries of workstations in non-trusting domains).

For some strange reason - mapping an admin share just doesn't cut it (just for reading the registry mind you)

Plus - reading the registry of remote Win9x boxes doesn't work so well. Either it just doesn't work at all, or you need something running on the remote machine ... can anyone fill in the blanks here ?

luck,

-Shawn
