Hi,
I noticed that even under XP and 2K (TS/Citrix servers) in version 4.12 the "macros"
@HOMEDIR @HOMEDRIVE @HOMESHR @LONGHOMEDIR @RSERVER
are empty. The KiX service is not installed on our 2000 DC's, but to be honest, I'm quite sure you don't need these for 2000 machines.
For the time being I'm using %HOMESHARE% instead of @HOMESHR on my citrix mf xp servers, but it's bizarre I can't use the native kix variables.
Surely, this must be a bug? (tested and verified on 3 machines in our domain)
thanks for the kick-ass KiX

Kind of an intersting point though. There are some CLIENT.. variables that can be leveraged too.

<<Not a bug but a feature ... I think of TS/Citrix environment ... maybe you should get better results with the environment vars already there>>
1. thanks for the feedback
2. please elaborate. I don't understand why this is a feature a.k.a. "good thing"?
If I can get part of the info out of the environment, then it's available. Question is why I can't seem to access it from the KiX variables then?
(sorry, I've just been using Kix for 2 days)
kind regards

fyi: I'm using
WriteValue("HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders","Personal","%HOMESHARE%\My Documents","REG_SZ") WriteValue("HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders","My Pictures","%HOMESHARE%\My Documents\My Pictures","REG_SZ") WriteValue("HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders","Personal","%HOMESHARE%\My Documents","REG_SZ") WriteValue("HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders","My Pictures","%HOMESHARE%\My Documents\My Pictures","REG_SZ")
to correctly set the My Documents forwarder under TS. AD2000 policies seem to have a bug there in requiring a hard coded UNC path. (and since we have several servers storing the TS profiles and homedirs...) [ 07. January 2003, 14:27: Message edited by: l3 ]

Our environment is:
- WTS 4.0 + SP6
- Citrix Metaframe 1.8 + SP3
Testing with KiXtart versions 3.62 (production) and 4.12 (development) gives:
code:
KiXtart version 3.62 @HOMEDIR=\\xxxxxxx\Administrator @HOMEDRIVE=H: @HOMESHR=\\xxxxxxx\Administrator @LONGHOMEDIR=\\xxxxxxx\Administrator @RSERVER= KiXtart version 4.12 @HOMEDIR=\\xxxxxxx\Administrator @HOMEDRIVE=H: @HOMESHR=\\xxxxxxx\Administrator @LONGHOMEDIR=\\xxxxxxx\Administrator @RSERVER=
NOTE: @RSERVER will always be blank for WTS sessions, as by definition they are NT (or W2K) virtual machines and so will not use the KXRPC service.

We have 5 active domains in a trust.
Our main domain, where I'm using KiX is a 2000 domain with 5 DCs all installed with WIN2K SP2 Servers.
The Citrix metaframe farm I tried kix 4.12 on is a MF XP FR2 one.
If you want I can test it on both our MF 1.8 farms also, but I don't think that will do much good.
I also tested this on a random windows NT4 and 2000 Client machine logged in in the main domain and even there these few variables are empty. (even though the users have a homedir and TS dir in active directory)
Also fails on my admin win XP machine.
Every single kix variable comes through (I'll post a list tomorrow), but only the homedir ones are plain empty (as you'd expect on a '9x machine I guess).
maybe that is of help?
