URGENT: unexpected results after moving topics without notification

Dear members,
Recently we detect that some of our topics were moved to another forum. A move
without any notification to use.
The problem is that a lot of relevant topics are directly linked by our site. So
users can get unexpected situation.
The URGENT status is, that it can be hard for a user to find back his own topic
when it is ONLY A MOVE operation. Only a move operation doesn't change the
last post status and doesn't result in an entry in f.e. Today's Active
Topics list. Such status change is necessary to make it possible for members
to catch those moved items.
It is an unwanted side effect from moving topics to another forum.
Our suggestion is that moderators add an reaction after the move is completed to
it.
F.e.
quote:
(moderator MCA moves topic F12-00177 this this forum)
and to make it complete: send owner a short mail to inform him.

Dear,
In our situation we doesn't receive any mail about it. We just know that some of our
entries were still on the original location on 19 November 2002.
So that is why we suggest to add a moderator note to the topic after completion
of move operation.
Another big problem is that the search engine shows the old location (see f.e. F13-177).

Dear Les,
Even when we are on a long vacation we will see topics with such note, because it will fit
within the specified range of show topics from last X days.
So it isn't really necessary that a member sees his topic on the same day.

Normally we are looking only at the last 5 days.
Just our vacation makes the period much bigger.
A member doesn't see his topic, when it doesn't belong to his specified range. General it are
only the last ten days.
It is really necessary that something is changing to move it within this range.
Now we know that the mailsystem doesn't work properly we can inform to owner by adding
a reaction to his topic.

Dear,
It is not only important for owners but also for other members to know that a topic
was moved. To catch those moves it is in our opinion important that is will show up
in show topics from last X days list.
Each regular and active member knows when he was last on the board and for them
it should be possible to see what is happening during that period.
Also we should be reserved with moving old topics. It can't be necessary and it
isn't unwanted situation to move all kind of topics when a new forum appears.
In our situation the PM part is disabled.

To prevent unexpected errors we have made a complete rebuild of our UDF and FAQ pa-
ges. Normally we add last modifications to it. So you will not see those items who were
moved to another forum on it.
Results UDF & FAQ
Also possible URL link problems has been solve. Yesterday the prefix of some URL links
were changed. We are now compliant with it.

btw: Scriptlogic is upgrading their site. So related page will not change during
that period and so it is also possible that you see unexpected result. Please wait.
