ScriptLogic has (finally) converted their Function Library to a completely database driven, ASP-based system. Now you can post functions using a comprehensive wizard and view them by catagory. You can also tag multiple functions and have them assembled into a KiXtart script and instantly e-mailed to you as an attachment. This is brand new, and there is always room for improvement -- so please take a moment, visit, and submit a function or two. Give us feedback on how to make it better... http://www.scriptlogic.com/Kixtart/FunctionList.asp Many thanks in advance, -Brian

MCA: We'd be glad to have you host text version of the functions. It is nie to have the UDFs available at more than one location for redundancy. Perhaps we can even work with you to create an automated ASP mechanism that e-mails them to you as new ones are posed and existing ones are updated?NTDOC: Glad you like! Kudos belong to Michael -- he has been the project leader on this over the last 6+ months... MARK: Yes, as Michael may have told you, there are already a number of enhancemnts planned -- such as 'discuss this function', which will be similar to a forum, but limited to each function -- this will provide a method for people to make suggestions to a specific function in public view. The UDF author can then reply and/or revise the function itself. A 'e-mail me when a new or updatred function is posted' will also be added to the user profiles area. -Brian

Request For Comments:
Looking for feedback on the ScriptLogic UDF submission & delivery system.
Is the interface flexible enough for everyone's functions?
How could it be improved?
Your comments are extremely valuable. We will do everything we can to make it better, if you tell us how

I just posted my first UDF over there.
While I understand (and respect) the design of the upload form, it is bit of a bother to fill it all in.
I'm kind of sloppy when it comes to that, and even cut'n paste still takes a bit to fill all that in. Specifically the UDF parameters...
The retrieval of a UDF is wonderful...

Radimus: Many thanks for the feedback, and for publishing your function.
I guess the benefit of a form is standardization, though it does somehwat limit flexibility. Perhaps this is an acceptible tradeoff? More comments please
Anyway, if you have any suggestion on how to keep the form while improving it, we're all ears -- we designed this site to be useful to everyone. Please be as detailed as possible with your suggestions.
Thank you very much in advance!! -Brian

I put RegWrite over there. Nothing special, but still useful.

Based on everyone's feedback, we've made some nice updates to the UDF Library:
Statistics atop the function display page -- now you can see how many times your function was e-mailed to others and its current ranking (based on votes).
The function discussion system is now operational, so rather than using a public forum, each function can have its own private comments.
A couple minor problems have been fixed when modifying a function already submitted.
The form fields when add/modifying are much more appropriately sized now (each field is taller).
The function's last modified date will only be updated if you change the source code of your function. This helps with the main catagory tabbed pages from showing 'updated' when only minor grammer changes have been made.
I'd like to take this opportunity to once again encourage all the gurus over here at kixtart.org to publish their UDFs in the new library. ** Please consider this a special invitation: Richard, Shawn, MCA, Bryce, Howard, Jooel, Jan, Roger, Jens, Kent, and anyone else who I may have hastily ommitted from this message.

MCA,
On your list of links of sites, it maybe helpful to have these open in a new window.
Thanks!

Just made the function voting summary page public. In the past, this has been a private page used by ScriptLogic and Ruud for determining which UDFs are the most popular (based on votes).
As you know, based on the voting system, Ruud has already added a number of UDFs into the 4.0x final and upcoming 4.10 beta. (examples: Left, Right, Mod, Trim), etc.
Check it out, but remember the numbers were reset when we converted to the new ASP-database driven system: http://www.scriptlogic.com/kixtart/functionresults.asp
Then, get your functions posted and get them voted on. Let's make sure Ruud knows which UDFs are the most valuable so he can build them into KiXtart natively!

You go Howard!!!
Hey, now that you've submitted a handful of functions, please let me know what you think about the system.
Specifically, what is your favorite part, how would you improve it, etc.? Any and all comments, positive and negative are kindly requested.

The process was fairly smooth, but on several submissions that took me a little while, the page failed to post. I had to open up a new session and copy all the data to a new form in order to post it.
The "Dependencies" input filed should scroll.
The ability to modify separate parts of the post was very helpful.
