Lonkero,

So are you now also using Howards PERL script for updating, or are you running a KiXtart script for updating?

Did you guys get that blank issue worked out? Please email me the lastest code so that I can work on putting on my site please.

doc, my code uses updated collector3.pl
it is me friendly as I use with it expect and cron.
there is no executing part on my public webserver.

I'll post my code and supporting files at least to hoby, as he asked and they could be collected as one tcl or perl script.

I may also give you a copy, but as I now have to e-mail trough vpn, it shall be done later.

not sure did he update the code with all the newist changes.
if you don't get the crontab rights he could package the pl for you in exe excluding the start page as it's going to change.
you most likely have rights at your home wksta to run at, have you? [Wink]

OK, thought I'd take the discussion away from Pech's thread.

The issue of revisions to the UDFs...
Would be nice if the list could also be sorted by last revised. Maybe when crawling the pages you could watch for the footnote...

...and index on that.

Since DOC's initial request, I am pondering that exact thing Les.

Has anyone noticed that dates on the board place a period after the numerical day value. Is there a reason for the period or is it erroneous? I caused me some grief during the initial coding and I see it again in the message edit:

It is cool that you are doing this in PERL.. Now, to port it over to KiX..

Hmmm..

Isn't there always a dot after the day?

Isn't there?

Lonkero did it first with KiXtart. He sent the code to me because he needed to run it on a non-M$ OS. I then rewrote it entirely in Perl.

I have never noticed the dot anywhere else in that type of date format. Maybe I just never noticed because I didn't have to parse it.

Never mind... I looked back over some of the older ones and they're not on them. Must have come with the UBB upgrade.

Probably
code:
($day, $month, $year) = $x =~ /\[\s(\9{1,2})\.\s(\w+)\s(\9+),.*?\]/;

No need to resort to that kind of language. [Eek!] I was just talking psuedo-code. [Wink]

I'm going to see if I can expose the M$ RegEx (Regular Expression) engine in a UDF using COM. It might be an interesting exercise.

Messing around with my script... just broke the UDF link. Should be up again soon. Currently updating the files again.

I left an extra $ in my code where it did not belong.

Les Yeah, every 2 hours probably is overkill, but wanted to make sure it would work.

Still a work in progress project.

hoby, you have problems with the time though.
checker did use to parse it at some point but what about the footnote:
quote:
All times are GMT
that has never been true

Not sure I follow. If we are talking about gather the new threads for the last 5 days, I could ignore time and just work with the calendar.
