Since DOC's initial request, I am pondering that exact thing Les.

Has anyone noticed that dates on the board place a period after the numerical day value. Is there a reason for the period or is it erroneous? I caused me some grief during the initial coding and I see it again in the message edit: [ 25. November 2002, 04:58: Message edited by: Howard Bullock ]

It is cool that you are doing this in PERL.. Now, to port it over to KiX..

Lonkero did it first with KiXtart. He sent the code to me because he needed to run it on a non-M$ OS. I then rewrote it entirely in Perl. [ 25. November 2002, 05:23: Message edited by: Howard Bullock ]

I have never noticed the dot anywhere else in that type of date format. Maybe I just never noticed because I didn't have to parse it.

Probably code:
($day, $month, $year) = $x =~ /\[\s(\9{1,2})\.\s(\w+)\s(\9+),.*?\]/;

I'm going to see if I can expose the M$ RegEx (Regular Expression) engine in a UDF using COM. It might be an interesting exercise. [ 25. November 2002, 05:31: Message edited by: Howard Bullock ]

Not sure I follow. If we are talking about gather the new threads for the last 5 days, I could ignore time and just work with the calendar. [ 25. November 2002, 12:53: Message edited by: Howard Bullock ]
