What are the OS that need to be supported? Any alternative will reqire a executable to be run on the local disk. This will imply to read a piped-out text file and parse it. Then you're back ar square one, namely using WINMSD. What are the exact requirements/justifications to go this particular way? _________________________ There are two types of vessels, submarines and targets.

Jochen Jochen KiX Supporter Registered: 2000-03-17 Posts: 6380 Loc: Stuttgart, Germany	The OS' are Windows NT Server 4.0 and the reason WMI is not an Option is a company policy ... just can't install anything I need What I actually do is executing a winmsd /s /f via rcmd on the servers and then readline it... Maybe I was correct in first assuming that there is no other way than WMI J. _________________________

Another policy conflict ehmm .. and executing the winmsd locally against the remote will be darn slow due to ISDN WAN connection [ 12.
