i hope someone can help i am totaly new to scripting and im wondering if i can right a script to check which Domain name is supplied at user logon so if the user supplies wpsdom then they cant connect and if thet supply parkav then they connect
the problem is if they connect to wpsdom then a batch file will automatically dump a security program onto the laptops rendering the laptops useless when they come of the network i no this is probally a big Question for a begginer but if anyone can help i would be much apppreciated

you can make 2 global groups, for the two domains then I suppose you have, and you put the users in the groups. lets pretend the groups are A en B. you can write in the scripts then:

if INGROUP(A)
....
endif
if INGROUP (B)
....
endif

I'm not sure if this is a solution for you, because your question wasn't so clear. In the second way you should check your policies, you can also make two global groups there A en B with different rights referring to the network privileges.

not quite what i wanted seaman thanks anyway
i would like the script to check the domain
name entered at logon so if the domain name was wpsdom then the pc would shutdown
and if it was parkav then it would connect
something like a hard coded domain name with the name of parkav so the laptop users can`t change it would be the answer but dont no if it can be done possibly in VB i could edit the logon form but no how or if it can be done. Anyone with any ideas please

Daz

How about

If @DOMAIN = "wpsdom" then run shutdown routine
else
run carry on routine

@DOMAIN macro in Kixtart should do the trick.

Obviously the above is freehand don't copy me word for word cause it won't work!

Good Luck
