I've about finished my User Manager module of my network management tool. I would appreciate any feedback on it as I'm sure it still needs a little tweaking. The only major issue I know of is email settings cannot be changed yet (haven't had time to work on it lately). A smaller issue I'm working on is where to put the Invalid Login count. Also, I'm trying to figure out a good way to denote a Primary Email address. Currently it puts two *'s on both sides of the address. Here are some of the ideas I had...

** First@Last.com **
REPLY: First@Last.com
FIRST@LAST.COM (all show lowercase except primary)

Also, could someone verify that my website links are working since I just replaced our intranet web server and haven't checked it from the outside yet.

Ben, your /kix link is asking for username/password.

Try again. I set it to Anonymous access allowed (was supposedly already done [Razz] )

Thanks

Ben,
I just ran the user manager and have a request.
In our environment, we have multiple domains. Would it be possible to first give a list of domains to choose from?
The main login domain we only have a 1 way trust with and I cannot administor any changes in it. But I can ascces all 5 of our resource domains with admin rights.

Thanks Wilbur

Wilbur,

I only have one domain to test against, but would love to make my tool fully functional with multiple domains. I'll add a feature to select the domain, but I'm guessing it will initially be set to the domain your account logged onto (@LDOMAIN [Smile] ).

If you have a chance, could you verify that you can see all your domains when creating a new user and selecting 'Change' on Location to create user. I believe that should take all domains into account, although with the new functionality I may need to make it start at the selected Domain.

Thanks for your feedback.

I've modified my script to take multiple domains into account. I am unable to test this so please give me any/all feedback on this feature. Also, I haven't modified creating a new user such that it starts at the selected domain. I will make that change if it is demonstrated that Domain selection works properly.

BTW, I think I should submit my tool to the 'Busiest Form Ever' contest. [Wink]

Ben,
Is this only active with AD? It comes up with the login domain and when I click on change, I see the start of the AD site.
I cannot get to my resourse domain ie @domain.
When I click on my username and click get, it hangs on one moment please. I can see the groups in the background. Also on this domain, I am not an administrator of the whole domain, just a part of the AD.

Wilbur,

I'll try to get a multiple domain environment setup so I can see what the problem is. I hope to have something setup by the end of the week, but it could go into next week. I'll update this thread as soon as I find out more.

Thanks again,
Ben

I have my dual domain environment set up finally (work has been keeping me from doing the good stuff) and found the problem when setting the domain. I needed to use the WinNT provider instead of LDAP. However, it is having a problem acquiring the UserID of a User in a different domain. It seems to be a problem/limitation of the TranslateName UDF I'm using. I'll continue to work through this problem.

BTW, this is being tested with two domains in the same tree, but neither is a child domain of the other.

I have a workaround for the UserID problem across domains. However I'm not happy with the solution so I'll be modifying that bit of code when I have time (I believe it always gives accurate info though). I've also modified creating a new user so it starts in the selected domain.

Wilbur: Give this a try, and let me know how it works for you.

[EDIT]
I made several important bug fixes this morning regarding multiple domain issues. I would recommend re-downloading the code if you acquired it yesterday. 11/22/2002 8:47AM EST
