Jooel,

Spent some time and cobbled together a dependency checker for BBChecker.

Check your e-mail. [Smile]

Thanks,

Kent

yes?
what it says?
also, could you add the word beta in the title.

you dudes (you, patrick ...) probably have been running checker.
has it been crashing?
I came back home and it had crashed once again.

the, went to my event log to see any info and found it full of 1311.
wasn't that supposed to be removed at some point?

Title - Changed.

> what it says?
It checks the following:
  • KIXFORMS.DLL location and version
  • If the necessary BBChecker files exist and sizes of each
I wanted to run it past you first. If you wanted, I could post or you could incorporate it in the code..
Thanks,

Kent

it passed alright (uploaded also)
only need I can see for it is to have virus messing up with the files.

kixforms is already checked by install...

parser and slider can't be checked as they are supposed to be version independent like the have since 1.4.0

slider is fully configurable by the user and parser needs to be able to change every time board software gets upgraded...

so, the idea is not bad but how to go with...

{edit}
also, lacking the IE5 (microsoft.xmlhttp-object) check.

once again.

for situations ppl saying something does not work, it could be pointed to them for basic checks and as such, it's better than good.

and boys, removed the minimize on topic open in beta2 as 2.1.1 has no support for doubleclick in buttons.
and it seems to work correctly.
any comments?

kent, am I missing your point here.
why you suggested it as incorporated?
and in which way, a runtime check or separate deptool in package?

also, am I only one who's checker has crashed?
I see multiple checkers running and no-one has reported errors...

{edit}
ok, currently only patrick, hoby and I are running it.
I'll keep on waiting...

thanks. could you also say what options you had enabled at the time.
slider can't be the source for the problem but don't show my post theoretically could be...

Lonkero, are you planning on making this program generic such that we could point it at different BBs?

it already is. [Big Grin]

the only things needed to make it officially is to add the required settings stuff in to misc.

also, having parser or it's "signature" files for different versions of UBB or even other software is the most demanding task.

that error is starting to look more and more like short network outage.

I was thinking, once I get it confirmed by current debug script that my assumption is correct, I could make in to the update routine a check for malformed info, and popup a messagebox with timeout of 10 secs asking if you want to quit the script or let it run...
then if let run, do a exit to avoid the crash and on next update do the...

or then just avoid the crash and let the user figure out the possible network outage if such exist...

Jooel,
DL'd the 1.5 beta... been running fine for 10 minutes. I see you got some of the punch list items done. No more minimize from history and the list puts most recent as topmost.

I tried following the other thread, you the 5 pages... but when you get going on very little sleep your writing gets cryptic.

So is there any change to the slider to make it more stable? I mean, should I bother testing?

my writing gets cryptic?
I thought it was always that way [Razz]

anyway, I'm running slider and it seems stable.
but, the reason why I took slider and parser out of the checker code was to make it little bit simpler for ppl to participate in the coding.

and leave me with only the main encrypter bbchecker.kix

shawn, currently slider has two problems:
-occassionally hangs the main checker window
-occassionally also pulls the main window ontop as the active window

as this is not static dunno what is the thing behind it.
also, as it's not always, I don't mind these.

previously had bigger problems with slider (in 1.4) but it turned out that all along the way I had forgotten the dimming of $ [Big Grin]

les, are you having any real errors?

Shawn,
Took a while to find it but here it is.

http://www.kixtart.org/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=14;t=000131#000017

If you start reading the thread at the 17th post, that's where I report the error. Maybe Jooel can better explain.

Is that this unexpected expression error - something about $caption ? Or this thingy about displaying "20" on the console ?
