As far as i remember, vb allows having a frame transparent or not. As it's possible to do it with c++ object, vb should allow it.
For a property allowing to change the transparent state, if i remember correctly, i couldn't change it on the fly in kixgui, maybe i missed a style when creating the c++ frame object.
Speaking about control groups, i'm wondering if vb doesn't use supplementary code to handle it, as like you i found few informations about it, unless the ws_group style.
