With regard to images, if GIF and JPEG may prove problematic due to licensing issues, how about PNG support or would that be a large overhead on the dll? As far as I know it is Patent free, handles transparency and support is growing rapidly. It would be nice to have an alternative to BMP simply because the files are so large. It's just a thought.
