I don't want to step on anyones toes so I want to verify a few things and get some feedback.

I have a 'program' written in Kix and KixGUI that contains several scripts, dir structure, reg entries, etc.. I have created an installable exe for the package that contains Kix 4.02 and KixGUI 1.1 but there are several issues.

1. Even though I packaged the above as per the redistribution clauses in both (entire original package), I'm sure people who already use kix may not be too pleased that I'm droping another copy down. And together they add almost twice the size to the package. Removing kix from the current install position would render any shortcuts in the start menu and on the desktop useless, as I have no means of determining where you have Kix. I've also seen where some have 3 different versions of Kix in their path!?

2. The installer (SpoonInstaller) automagically registers any dlls it copies. That's a major issue.

3. Creating documentation to setup the program to suit each individual box, is a pain in the ass and defeats the purpose of using an installer. Creating two seperate installs is an option, but not one I really care for.

I'm sure someone has been down this road. What's a man to do? Suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks! [Smile]
