Anybody ever needed to run only one line of kix code?
Think, if you could do KIX32.EXE "USE X: \\SERVER\SHARE" or anything

is this stupid or clever

creutz
ps if you think this is stupid; how do I get @primarygroup information into a logon script?

Creutz,

If you want to use @PRIMARYGROUP in your logon script then write the value to an environment variable.

I hope this helps,

Lee

code:
NET USE X: \\SERVER\SHARE

Yes NET USE X: \\SERVER\SHARE is working fine IF you know what SHARE stands for but my users belong to different primary groups and therfore gets different X: linkend to them. I tried NET USER username /DOMAIN but it dows not skow the primary group; therefore I have to use 1 line of kix code.

I solved the oneliner in a different way;
The batchfile doing the stuff writes a temp kix script file which is then deleted.

ps Lonkero said that KIX will never have this kind of command line support. Any reason why not?

Because it's unnecessary? One can always solve it in plain KiXtart. Also, I still do not get your point, anyway. Why would a commandline-KiXtart help you if you don't even know the share?

And if you want to map drives based on @PRIMARYGROUP, then that's a three-line Kixtart script.

OK, IŽll change from plain batch to kix, which I should have ages ago.

I would have done USE X: \\SERVER\@PRIMARYGROUP

no hard feelings
thanks anyway

However, as @PRIMARYGROUP is a KiXtart macro, one has to invoke KiXtart anyway.
Thus
code:
; cli.kix
if $cli
$rc=execute($cli)
endif

and a call as
code:
kix32 cli $cli="net use x: '\\server\@PRIMARYGROUP'"
