Bleonard,Why does anyone want to scan if there is a 40 or 80 number in the ip address? Is it maybe used for detecting a dialin RAS connection?
Isn't it better 2 use the @RAS>0 command macro... can you explain how this works? Thanx, gtrz Eric ------------------

I would guess that certain IP addresses are being checked for. In all likelyhood the tests for 80 and 40 are enough to distinguish the required addresses from the others. Without knowing the addressing scheme used on the system in question it is not possible to determine anything more detailed.

As to why you would scan, and in this manner, I could not say without seeing what the script is doing when these string values are found (or not found). Likely, as Fuse noted (or was that cj?  ) they are checking for a particular network - perhaps along the lines of xxx.xxx.40.xxx, and xxx.xxx.80.xxx. So, if you've multiple networks in place you should be able to see what is 'special', from script-execution perspective, about those on the specific network(s) checked by this script in comparison to the other networks.Another possibility - perhaps a network admin lost track of two systems (xxx.xxx.xxx.40, .80), and wanted to use this script to identify them in such a manner as to be able to find them within the office(s) being supported.
