Thanks for your message, I am very new to KIX, expecially to writing new code for them. I can edit the existing code just fine. Which varriables are you talking about? What I posted is the script in it's entirety. What am i missing?

thanks for your continuing help!!

Aaron,

You have -
code:
;Reset proxy settings
$key = "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings"
WRITEVALUE(key$,"ProxyEnable","1","REG_DWORD")
WRITEVALUE(key$,"ProxyServer","10.0.0.13:3129","REG_SZ")
WRITEVALUE($key, "ProxyOverride", "", "REG_SZ")

Really, it needs to be -
code:
;Reset proxy settings
$key = "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings"
$RC=WRITEVALUE($key,"ProxyEnable","1","REG_DWORD")
$RC=WRITEVALUE($key,"ProxyServer","10.0.0.13:3129","REG_SZ")
$RC=WRITEVALUE($key, "ProxyOverride", "", "REG_SZ")

Note the use of $RC to suppress the 0's and 1's..

Thank you. Right after i posted my reply, I went back and looked at my code. Plain and simple, it was sloppy code writing, and even sloppier code proofing. Thanks for the help, Everything is working wonderfully now.

DUH!!!

Probably a bit late for you, but I strongly recommend that you use a DNS name rather than an IP address.

Further, it should be a DNS CNAME (alias) for the service, not the machine name. This will allow you to change it at will later, without affecting your clients.

The same principle should be applied to any and all services you provide (e.g. email). The only services you cannot do this for are WINS, DNS and DHCP.

Just a thought on this, depending on the number of clients you're talking about you may want to look into using an auto config script for IE. This would allow you to make global changes in one location rather than on each machine.

You could push out the change to the auto config via Kix in thier logon script though. [Big Grin]

Correct me if I am wrong.. Can't this be pushed using a GPO?

That's what I do, I push this out with a GPO with additional parameters which do not allow our users from changing the configurations. GPO's only work with WIN2K and above clients and is dependent on Active Directory. Lot of shops are still on NT4 Domains....
