attiahia attiahia Hey THIS is FUN Registered: 2000-03-27 Posts: 268	I want to switch off the printer through the script. Is it possible to do this through changing value of specific registry key? The following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Print\Printers\HP LaserJet 4000 Series PCL6 Has interesting keys like: Status=180 StartTime=0 UntilTime=0 Action=0 Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

Jochen Jochen KiX Supporter Registered: 2000-03-17 Posts: 6380 Loc: Stuttgart, Germany	I assume that those keys in the best case reflect the 'current' status of the printer and doesn't control it I may be wrong though as demonstrated several times today Oh yeah, additionally : The best result (if it is possible anyway) will be predictably a 'Stand By' state -> Switch OFF is of course only manually possible [ 07. Normally, these setting are configured via management consoles like HP Web JetAdmin for networked printers. _________________________ There are two types of vessels, submarines and targets.

attiahia attiahia Hey THIS is FUN Registered: 2000-03-27 Posts: 268	jplos I want to do this because most of our employees ignore the instructions and leave their PC’s and printer (local & network) on after the work hours. I know how to switch off PC at specific time but not yet the printer. All Do you think that any other language (like Perl or VPS) or any other third-party program\command can do such thing? Any other suggested discussion site to place such question? Thank you.

attiahia attiahia Hey THIS is FUN Registered: 2000-03-27 Posts: 268	In kix script I will use Shutdown command then I will us AT command to schedule the script executing everyday at the end work hour. Before run the Shutdown command in the script I will use find\ list command to check if there is any active program in the task manger. User will get a message and option to stop the Shutdown command. Thank you.

I do not know of any printer that you can shut down remotely or by script. However, you can set sleep modes for higher-end printers like workgroup or networked printers. _________________________ There are two types of vessels, submarines and targets.
