I'am running a kix 4.0.2 scripts on NT4 and W2K, but my drive mappings on my W2K client have a little red coss on it when I open Explore.

On my NT4 clients, everyone work ok. (not a red coss)

Does anyone have a solutions ?

Mvh

Mvh,

Welcome to the board.

This is a known issue.

What it really is that you have not established a connection to the drive.

Mvh,

Sure..

Go to http://support.microsoft.com

Click - Search the Knowledge Base

Under Select a Microsoft Product -

Scroll to: Windows 2000

Search For... Disconnected drive

Switch to: Using Exact phrase entered

Get one result:

Mapped Drives in Windows Explorer May Retain the Name of a Disconnected Drive

Please be sure you read the Support Notes from Microsoft before proceeding.

Does that help?

Kent

I had the same problem when we got rid of Novell and used Kix scripts for our, now, pure Win2K environment. In the Kix script, I use
code:

Shell "net Use P: \\SERVER\PUBLIC"

..instead of the normal
code:
 USE E: "\\SERVER\PUBLIC"

This change connected the drives and got rid of the X's. Also, default disconnect on servers for inactivity is set for 15min. You may want to increase that if disconnects while logged in become a problem

As I remember it..

The USE from Kix or the "remember" the map from within in Windows is more effective..

That is, the network info is not held in cache until called upon.

HTH,
