Anonymous Anonymous Unregistered	Dear friends, This is not kixtart (that is another story) but I think you `ll find useful of how to upgrade all your clients with the last patches from ms web update with no internet connection. From a host with internet connection start downloading the patch(es) you want. You can see the file growing (!) at the following directory (xxxx is a number) C:\Program Files\WindowsUpdate\Cabs\xxxx\ The file is locked while downloading but it is free for copy only for two or three seconds while installing, so you must be quick and determined for not loosing your chance. The patch will get auto deleted after installation! Ok now you have the q2134287364.exe (or whatever ) at another directory free for scripting. With a similar technique your can extract this file also for improving dramatically the installation time. Save the pathes under the directory C:\Winnt\System32\Repl\Import\Scripts\Patch Repository\q1123n… Use a ini file at client side in order clients know if there is any new stuff for them and you are done ! Tested successfully at w2k xp nt4 enviroment. Do not tell Microsoft !!

I was trying to gather about 8 hotfixes for Windows XP (scripted install) and could not, for the life of me, find the downloadable versions of any of them. Everytime I read a Q article - the download link would just take me to Windows Update, but theres no place to actually download the friggin patch in there !!! So what I did was to install the patch, then go to Internet Explorer Temporary Files and extract the QNNNNNN.exe right out of there ! This is for anyone - am I missing something here ? What's up with that ? -Shawn

[ranton] Is it me or is surfing microsoft.com getting to be like one of those endless automated voice response phone loop thingies ... [petpeeve] Why does microsoft keep changing their URL addresses ... i can't remember a time geting as many bad links like i have been getting from them lately ... even from within their own web pages ... arrghhhh ! They always put the downloads in a different place than the online ones. Forget saving M$ favorites... yeah, they keep changing... best to try to remember what searches bore fruit. _________________________ Give a man a fish and he will be back for more.
