I am new to Kix, just picked it up yesterday. Winnt is no problem, butI can't seem to get 9.X clients to work. I know that I am missing something real simple. I have copied the *.dll's to the windows\system directory and have Kix started on my server as a service. Would like to solve this as soon as possible.
Thanks

Do you have the kxrpc service on your PDC and all of the BDC's?

Read Page 12 in you manual Win 95 users need to run a batch file instead of the exe.

Currently I have KXRPC loaded on my PDC, not any of my BDC's yet, still testing on myself. NT 4 works greate, even 2000. For some reason I am unable to get 9.X to load. I have the appropriate *.dll's in the Netlogon share. I have a batch file called Netlogon.bat which executes the kix32.exe and points to my Netlogon.kix script. When logging into network, no drive mapping.

I do know that authenication from your bdc and not your PDC. Once a bdc is installed it is normally the one that issues the scripts. I have 4 bdc's and a Pdc and I have to put it on all of them or I will get people calling me all over the plant.

Sorry Rich.

You'll have to run KXRPC on ALL PDC and BDC.

Here run this, it will tell you the status of the KXRPC service on all Domain Controllers.

code:

Break on cls
;-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
;Check the KXRPC service on all DC's
;
; This script will check/display the status of the KXRPC service on all domain
; controllers.
;
; Needed Programs:
; nltest.exe (NT Resource KIX)
; xnet.exe (came with KixTart)
;-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

$tempfile = "%temp%\temp.txt"
shell '%comspec% /c nltest /dclist:@domain | find /i "\\" > "$tempfile"'
$nul = open(1,$tempfile,2)
$DC = substr(readline(1),5,100)

do
select
case instr($dc,"pdc") <> 0
$PDC = substr($dc,1,instr($dc," (pdc)")-1)
? "===$DC=========="
? shell '%comspec% /c xnet list $pdc\KXRPC'
$DC = substr(readline(1),5,100)
case 1
? "---$DC----------"
? shell '%comspec% /c xnet list $dc\KXRPC'
$DC = substr(readline(1),5,100)
endselect
until @error <> 0
