Rick Bursey, the appdata under HKCU + "\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch" is what I use too, works great (even in non-English OS's).This appdata entry is also available for all Win32 OS's.
(btw, if you're going to remove the OL express link, you're going to have to do a DOS attrib -r on the *.lnk to be able to remove it..)
