we use a command line utility called chgpwnt.exe but that is all I can tell you about it. It may be a homegrown program (It's always been here) I did a quick search on the web but did not find any reference to it. Maybe somebody will have better luck finding this program.

If anyone's still interested, I can take a stab at changing and compiling CPW.C to work anyway we'd like.

Let me know.

Shawn.

Hey Shawn!

Yea I would be very much interested in a command line util that lets Domain Users change their NT Password.

Everything I have found says to "press Ctrl+Alt+Del and click on change password"

Question--Are you Logging into a NT domain? If so--Use User Manager and click the option have user change password at next logon. You can also set the Account policy to set how often you want them to change their password.

Shifty,

Yes this is true, but it is still GUI based tool and can't easily be called when you want it.

With a good command line tool (one like Novell's changepass.exe) you have that extra flexibility, that can be put to a number of uses.

MUCHO points to Shawn! He was able to compile a commandline tool that would let a user change their password from a commandline, he even make the exe Kix friendly!!!

I placed this file on my website and you can get it here.
http://kix.isorg.net/kix_tools/ChangePass.zip

Inside the zip file is a sample kix script, and the source code for cpwd.exe

Hi,
another possibility is to use the free AINTX tools. I LOVE them !!!
See http://user.mc.net/~jlh/nttools/index.htm

Think about being able to cron, passwd, cpuser, mail, tail and many others ....
