Hello Experts,

I am new in kixtart script, here are some problem I hope any guys can help me solve it.

the script :

? $USERHOMEDIR
use y: "$USERHOMEDIR"
? @ERROR
run "subst X: @HomeShr\@HomeDir"

I found the result is the y: is mapped to the %logonserver%\userhome e.g. \\NTSERVER\UserHome.
the X: is mapped to same as Y: mapping.
I have checked the path @HOMESHR\@HOMEDIR is correct e.g. \\NTSERVER\USERHOME\LBJLEUNG

I found the error from subst statement is "the path is not found" from the command prompt screen. There is no error message from Y: mapping statement.

I tried to type the \\NTSERVER\USERHOME\LBJLEUNG at the Start->Run and got the folder.
Also I tried it at the command prompt window, the error message "path is not found" is shown.

Any suggestion???

Thanks indeed.

Regards,
jl.

As I recall, a SUBST command goes through a mapping (since the command-line doesn't support UNC names):
-----
USE H: \\SERVER\SHARE
SHELL '%comspec% /c SUBST U: H:\@userid'
-----
UPDATE: I tried subst on an UNC name and it does map but the drive is not accessible.

Shell 'y:\files\makescut /n "c:\@USERID Home Drive" /t "@HOMESHR\@userid" /i "shell32.dll" 9 /o'

this is what I use.. I have a small "makescut " program that creates short cuts!!
