Hi there ,

the following is supposed to return the ip address of a known host (who's name is resolved to an ip).

I know it works on Windows NT and Windows 2K, and wonder if it works on 9x and XP also ...

code:

break on cls

$Computer = 'Any host with name resolution'
$ipfile = '%temp%\ip.txt'

shell '%Comspec% /q /e:1024 /c for /F "tokens=2 delims=[]" %%i IN ('+ chr(39) + '"ping $Computer -n 1 | find "]""' + chr(39) + ') do echo %%i >' + $ipfile

$ = open(1,$ipfile,2)
$ip = readline(1)
$ = close(1)
del $ipfile
? $ip ?

get $

Thanx in advance

Jochen

NTDOC, to restore bios on STINKpad you need to:
do five cold boots and on the last boot up first press ctrl+pause+printscrn+| and then type you_stupid_machine
after that, the STINKpad will connect to spirits and receive from them new the slowest STINKpad bootup procedurs ever.

What are you talking about? I have 6 systems running Windows XP.

I will run your code on one and let you know. It is Windows 2000 with ugly MAC type icons kind of...

Or is there something else you want to know about it?

Hi Jochen,

The code ran just fine on Windows XP (beta 2)

From command line if you type VER it comes back with:

Microsoft Windows 2000 [Version 5.1.2462]
