Things like default font in word(6, 95 or 2000) is stored in a file called 'Normal.dot' and is eihter located in the '%WinRoot%\Profiles\<USERDID>\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates\' dir (Win9x/WinME) or in the '..\..\Office\' dir (WinNT).
I am not sure whether this file is easy to edit (think not) but I will look in to it today.
