Jochen:

It's really, REALLY good to see you back on the board.

How was your vacation ? Email me with the details !!!

Yeah - I think you're the only person that's been able to come up with a neat use for this stuff.

Your tea-timer script is well done, and I think that if you added some MSAgent "Pizazz" - it would be awesome !

Staying tuned !

Shawn.

p.s.

Are you going to re-post your tea-timer ?

shawn,

YEAHHHHHH, it speaks to me !!!!!
(ok, i have to say that Americans have massive problems to pronounce my Name correctly ;
btw. again: the 'J' is spoken
like the spanish 'Y' eg.: in the word 'oye',
and the 'ch' like the spanish 'J' eg.: José
, but thats as maybe !)

so back to the agent stuff : IT ROCKS !!!
we thought of distributing a tweaked version
of our logon script in the night to next 1st
of April ....
Me would be extremely satisfied if hundreds of Car-Sellers were blocking the Hotline, with the issue: "what the hell's goin' on here ??? My Computer talks to me $%(&/$**$*%!!!!"

ok now , if i can take the time (think of tomorrow) i will repost the tea timer as first 'real-world-pizazz-app'

till then
Jochen

Jochen:

Do me a favor.

See if your can get Merlin to correctly pronounce your name ( or something close to it ) by whatever combination of words or letters you can string together.

I'll run it over here and this whole issue of how to pronounce your name will be resolved. I keep wanting to call you Josh-en, help me out here !

Maybe you can incorporate your phonetic name into your tea-timer.

Shawn.

ok ,
finished rewriting my tribute to Pizzaz - Tea-timer rewriting !
won't post it here but in the original topic: http://kixtart.org/board/Forum2/HTML/000641.html

Didn't made Genie pronounce my Name correctly (so ,this is the only silent line in it).

the timer doesn't time the last ten seconds correctly on my 133Mhz Pentium , 48 Megs of Ram , desperately old ThinkPad ... but , i don't care !

Have phun
and thanks for that msagent stuff Shawn!

Jochen

To Shawn and anyone else who could help - I ran the code that Shawn suggested to Jango and I get the following...

agent.control.2
agent = olecreateobject
error = 0
Script error : unknown macro !.
?"message = @error"

Needless to say, I haven't been able to get this OLE animation script to work yet on NT 4.0 workstation. I have installed the Agent and the TTS as well as the Genie, Merlin and Robby animations.

The name of my script file copied exactly from page 1 of Radimus' post on this topic is: test1.scr and is being called by Kixtart.

Anyone have any thoughts on what is going wrong?

Thanks in advance....

Just so you know, when I run Radimus' script I get the following error...

agent.control.2
script error : expected expression !.
$= oleputproperty ( $agent, "connected", "s", "1" )

My login scipt run by NT Server 4.0 is:

login.bat

and holds code reading:

@ECHO OFF
%0\..\KIX32 test2.scr
sleep 10

test2.scr is Radimus' script EXACTLY.

I'm running Windows NT Workstation 4.0 SP6a with the C2 hotfix as my test user machine.

I just ran Shawn's script and I get the same error. Could it be my version of Kixtart or MSIE? Kixtart is version 3.40 and MSIE is version 5.50.4134.0600...

I'm trying to think of differences here that would accoutn for everyone else being able to run this and not myself on any of my machines. I have installed the MSAgent (Although it doesn't reboot after installing) as well as the TTS and the characters all to the default directories:

c:\winnt\msagent\
c:\winnt\msagent\chars\

/me pouts

FauxPas, (this is no joke? )

please verify if KIX 3.40 supports all that OLE-Functions we need here -> If not update to 3.62...(sorry, started with a newer Version!)

Try update the proposed SAPI 4.0 binaries, available here : http://msdn.microsoft.com/workshop/imedia/agent/agentdl.asp

This is interesting... This is the most useless topic ever discussed here, and has got to have the most work dedicated in an attempt to use it.

Good show

BTW, once you all get it to work, what will you have it do??

Ok, I got it working. Hooray!

It appears to be solely related to KiXtart. If you recall from an earlier post, we are using 3.40 yet 3.62 is the most current. I ran a local copy of KiXtart on my NT 4 WKSTN and got everything working... now to upgrade my DCs and hope my current scripts work just as well.

Thanks for everyone's help.

I know that this is getting very long, but did anyone get this to run on a win 95 or 98 machine? I've gotten my script to work fine on NT but am trying to get it to work on mostly 95 workstations.
