Hello all

My KiXtart script calls other batch files depending on what groups the person belongs to. These batch files call programs that output to the screen, so I didn't want them to put their output in the KiXtart window. I have finally come up with the command that opens a new window, executes the batch file and closes the window again and thought I'd share it with you!!

Try using:

SHELL "%comspec% /C START %comspec% /C command"

where command is the file/command you want to run.

This works great for calling the SMS batch file at logon. I use:

SHELL "%comspec% /C START %comspec% /C " + @LDRIVE + "SMSLS.BAT"

You may be wondering why I've got the command/cmd running twice. This is because of NT, which doesn't know about the START command until you run CMD.

The first CMD calls START that calls another CMD in a new window. The specified batch file/command will then run, the window will close and the KiXtart window won't be affected!

See ya

Matt
