Could someone dbl check me on this:
the code:

sendkeys("^{esc}r")
sendkeys("cmd{enter}")
sleep(2)
sendkeys("cdefcdefcdefccc")

should open a command prompt and send the character string cdefcdefcdefccc

instead every 'c' character it hits is sends a ^c (ctrl + c). If I change the code to read:

sendkeys("^{esc}r")
sendkeys("cmd{enter}^c")
sleep(2)
sendkeys("cdefcdefcdefccc")

it then correctly sends the string cdefcdefcdefccc about every other time.

Anybody confirm this? I want to launch winword.exe and have the background script continue and this appears to be the only way to do it. If I shell, the shell command waits till winword.exe exists; if I call a batch file, the batch file waits till winword.exe exits before it continues so I can't pass keystrokes to the running app. Any suggestions around that problem?

Thanks! JIM
