I had to upgrade the sql clients on all the workstations the same day the sql server was upgraded or the client would report dll mismatch. I was also told this would be happeing more then once so wrote a script to maktain the version upgrade data in the registry:
; the very first time, create the version key
IF EXIST ("c:\sbs\confirm\confirm.exe")
? "I see you have confirm on your dirve..."If existkey( "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ConfirmUpgrades" ) <> "0"
addkey( "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ConfirmUpgrades" ) = 0
ENDIF
$checkversion = ReadValue("HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ConfirmUpgrades", "version")
IF $checkversion <> "one"
? "You need to be patched..."
copy "z:\upgrade\*.*" "c:\sbs\"
writevalue ( "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ConfirmUpgrades" , "version" , "one" , "REG_SZ" )
ELSE
? "but you've already recieved patch version: " $checkversion
ENDIF
ENDIF
:EXIT
? "bye"
