The solution is to use Msnet32.DLL from win98 ! v4.10.1998

It IS the same DLL as 4.00.954 ! Except updated and renumbered to 4.10.1998 And inherits all registry changes made to MSNET32.DLL
(win95 - 4.00.951, .952, and .953 and .954 ) ------------------------------------

Windows 95 Solution: ----------------------------------- Save the MSNET32*.DLL (v4.10.1998) file to a directory like c:\temp

Edit the below listing for: msnet32.dll-problem.reg and save as disk file. Double Click on file msnet32.dll-problem.reg

(Registry settings will perform two functions: 1. Increase TCP/IP stack to a DefaultTTL (time to live) =128, and DefaultRcvWindow=64240 2.
Increase the delay period from 3 sec's to 45 sec's for response from PDC/BDC.) "ExpectedDialupDelay"=dword:0000002d <-- 2d (hex) equals
45 secs

Execute QFECHECK.EXE

UPD006 - Vredir update...IF there is a RED "X" next to this line, the VREDIR.VXD file is the WRONG version. Obtain and use from Win95b
"VREDIR.VXD v4.00.1111" and COPY to c:\windows\system

Restart/Reboot Win95 PC to MS-DOS mode…

Copy the saved MSNET32.DLL (v4.10.1998) file in c:\temp to c:\windows\system

Exit from DOS and/or restart PC for changes to take effect.

Windows 98 Solution: ------------------------------- double-click on the attached msnet32.dll-problem.reg file. Registry settings will perform two
functions: 1. Increase TCP/IP stack to a DefaultTTL (time to live) =128, and DefaultRcvWindow=64240 2. Increase the delay period from 3 sec's
to 45 sec's for response from PDC/BDC.

Final notes: TechNet also refers to the following registry settings/instructions for further forcing Logons....

1. On the computer running Windows 9x, run Registry Editor and add a key that corresponds to your domain name to the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\NetLogon\ PreferredServer

For example, if the domain name is MyDomain, create the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\NetLogon\ PreferredServer\MyDomain

2. Add a String value named LogonServer to the key you created in step 1. Set the data value of the LogonServer value to the name of the
domain controller you want to use for domain validation.
