is it also a recommended practice to have a logoff script that deletes all drive mappings? I dont want any users having access to or even seeing shares they shouldn't be seeing.

Nobody here does anything manually. I have 40,000 users configured this way. In special cases, I changes thousands in a few minutes.

oh interesting, so did you write an adsi script that goes through each user and modifies the login script attribute?

When you logoff the domain, you also logoff the workstation... no need for a logoff script.

The drives you just mapped do not survive the logoff.

If you have your security configured correctly, no one will see anything that they shouldn't. I do not think that a logoff script in this case does anything for you.

as long as none of the mappings get preserved then thats fine, anyway if a user is smart enough to browse to a server and look at its shares (I didn't bother making them hidden) they wouldn't have NTFS permissions on it unless they needed them.

I like hidden shares.
users don't see the shares they don't need to.
say you have 200-400 user shares on server and say to your users that to see new digital images from your trip just browse to \\server\digit.
doh, better if they ever get there, they only see places that are meaningfull to them and they can access.
kinda like teaching them a little of networking at the same time [Wink]

The easiest way to debug your script is to put DEBUG ON into the first line of your script and step through it.
