Hi eveyone, I'm trying to find a way to automate security patch depoyments to my win2k workstations when the local user does not have admin or power user rights on the local machine. I thought that I could use runas.exe when calling the the install for the patch, but I'm not sure how to pass the loacl admin's password to runas.exe. Perhaps this is not possible. Has anyone tried this? Does anyone know of a better approach?
Thanks in advance,

Dan T

There are a couple ongoing threads on this subject now. Have browsed or searched the board?

The Faq & HowTo forum includes items such as: Installing an Application as an Admin

The Microsoft Software Update Services (SUS) is free and seems to do a reasonable job of rolling out the patches. It will install them without the local user being an admin. It's fairly painless to set up and requires that all clients be W2K SP2 or higher.
