Anyone knows how to write a logon script that can reset Windows 2000 Pro local Administrator password?

Hassan,

through logon it only works if users are local admins/account operators/domain admins.

Search the board for RenameAdmin, a tool developed by a fellow KiXer (Howard Bullock). Then you could use this to change the admin account and the password...

Let us know what you found.

User will need admin admin privileges to do this.

MS has a build in tool for this. The command NET can do this.

This is the command from the command prompt or in a batch file. Can easily be translates to Kix.

code:
net user administrator newpassword

Didn’t' know about the user not being local admin [Embarrassed]
Could use something like the Taskscheduler UDF or su combined with kixcrypt.

Su and KiXCrypt will do the trick (am using it...). TaskScheduler could do it, but cannot through logonscript.

didn't know the local admin either. Was assuming it... Who wants to make normal users local admin... [Eek!]

Doing it at logon would be easiest with su or some thing like it indeed

Posted this.....

code:
Select
Case $user = admin
$network = "Totally screwed up"
$sysadmin = "Flooded with work"
$sysadminmood = "Also totally screwed up"
Case $user = localadmin
$workstation = "Totally screwed up"
$firewall = "Getting bombarded with kazaa requests and stuff"
$sysadmin = "Flooded with firewall warnings"
$sysadminmood = "Also totally screwed up"
Case $user = "User" AND $user = "Unable to do stuff he likes without admins knowing"
$network = "Up and running"
$sysadmin = "Happy, legs up on desk saying he's real bussy"
$sysadminmood = "Might think twice about kicking a user"
EndSelect

... here a few days ago just for fun [Big Grin]

Sgt,
Why would you want to do this in a logon script. It is easy enough to do in an admin script with Howard's RenameAdmin.exe utility.
