Hi All,
I am new to Kix and have read about the Kixomatic. Could someone describe to me how it is used? I am familiar with the Scriptomatic tool and have played with it.
Thank You for your help,
Shawn

if you are familiar with scriptomatic, there should be no problems whatsover.

could you specify more precisely, with what you are having difficulties?

Kixomaic is a simple tool to query WMI... usually to see if you have found the right provider to provide the data that you are looking for.

It does generate the basic code that you can copy paste into a script.

I typically use it find the provider for a specific piece of data and plug it into WMIQuery() for scripting purposes

Thank You Both for of your responce's but I am still in the dark as to how to use Kixomatic.

When I said I know how to use Scriptomatic I meant I know how to open it and look at the different objects? and see the script they produce. I am an amature when it comes to using the script it produces.
I have seen the code posted here for Kixomatic but do not know how to use it. I have cut and pasted the code into word and saved it with a .vbs extension. Double clicked it and expected to see a GUI but have just got error codes.

What extension do you add to the end of the code, does it make it easier to insert or extract information from the WMI using KIX?
Will it help me write or understand KIX scripting easier?

Thank You for your help,
tavarish

ah...

don't use word, use wordpad or notepad...

notepad is best, ose wordpad only if the lines from the copied text lose the carriage returns, then copy the text from wordpad and paste into notepad.

save with a .kix extension

It is also a kixforms app, so you will need kixforms.dll installed on your PC

With that said, make yourself with the FAQ forum, as it is a collection of all the newbie and most common questions.

tavarish the reason Kiomatic was written so that the final code was outputted into Kix (.kix extension).

Scriptomatic output is VB, so a .vbs extension is used.

Have you got the GUI running, if not download Kixforms from the link below, then register the dll file.

KixForms Download

Then you should get the GUI working.

Have you used kix before ??, if so you must know how to run kix scripts and must have seen users talking about KixForms.
