#4280 - 2000-09-28 09:36 AM Dir() function broken?

Hi,

I'm plotting a scheme to vaguely intelligently replace certain files on a user's desktop by deleting and recopying files.

To do this, I have a TODELETE folder containing the files I want to remove... and a TOADD folder containing the files I subsequently want to add.
The adding is the easy bit - these just get copied to the All Users\Desktop folder, or the user's desktop folder, depending on group memebership.

Deletion is slightly more tricky - I need to enumerate the files in the TODELETE folder and then delete each file's equivalent in the profiles folder. I'd prefer to have the whole thing drag-and-drop, as opposed to maintaining a text file of files for deletion, and a drag&drop addition mechanism.

Now, the fun part:

Using Kixtart 3.62, I can't get the DIR() example in the manual to work on the C:\ folder. Or any folder, for that matter. Unless there's something weird and environmental going on (which I won't rule out), DIR seems broken.

All other functions seem to work fine.

If anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them!

Cheers,
Spong.

And yet, it worked with the Walk Directories example from Scripts.
Looks like the ./.. handling cleared a bit up for me. Onward to the clients!

Thanks for an excellent repository!
