Sorry this is off topic, i work in a school and we have just got some new windows2000 PC's. Have installed the printer through the administrator account, but when a student tries to print says 'There is no printer installed'.
Could this be resolved through Kix? if anyone could help...

Thanks

Printers are installed on a per user basis. The printer you installed under the Administrator account is stored in it's profile.

Its a network printer. It has been set up correctly through the network and been shared out, but is still not allowing students to print.

Guess it's a network printer ...

If yes :

http://www.scriptlogic.com/Kixtart/htmlhelp/Functions/addprinterconnection.htm

and

http://www.scriptlogic.com/Kixtart/htmlhelp/Functions/setdefaultprinter.htm

to be issued in your logon script.

network printers have to be installed by each user

it will NOT be available under a different user account.

drop a shortcut on the all user desktop that point to the printer UNC path

Thanks!
I set the defult printer within the script at logon, so now it installS the printer for the students. As we have many rooms, i know how to set an enviroment variable called 'Room' so the script checks which room variable the student is logged on to and installs the correct printer! How do i get kix to read this enviroment variable and install the default printer?

Did you get a chance to peruse the Forum - KiXtart FAQ & How to's?

And more specifically - Default Printer Configuration
