hi everyone, i am new with the kixtart thing :-))) we have a w2k domain, some samba servers and with some win98 workstations. i built a script which checks where the user is and this script is starting another script where the mappings were executed. with the w2k clients everything is working well, but the win98 clients execute the scripts but no mappings are shown on the clients...
i read kix is working with win98 clients?!?!?! can anyone help me????
thanx, marciano

the problem with your script...
I'm using my psychic powers and have determined that the problem with your script is a missing quote on the 26th line of code.

windows9x CANNOT map below root. Read the FAQ forum, as this has been documented extensively.
it cannot do: use k: "\\dc01\abt\verkauf" the best it can do is: use k: "\\dc01\abt"

I did not VALIDATE your code, but I did clean it up some. Remember what Radimus said about the DEEP MAPPING issue. Your NT 4.0 system will not map there.

thanx for your help :-)))
...but i have still a problem!!! we have 1 dc and 2 samba and some win9x clients . the script isn´t working well with the 98x clients. i put the .dlls that i needed for the 9x clients into the logon at the dc and now i see the logoninformation on the 9x clients... but no mappings are made.
is this with deep mappings? what are deep mappings?? or is it the local_group thing???
sorry for the stupid questions but i am really new with the kix ;-)

This is NOT a KiXart issue, it is a Microsoft network redirector issue.
Please read the following LONG topic on this mapping issue.
PLEASE HELP WITH MAPPING HOME DIRECTORY
Also, make sure you have ALL PDC/BDC syncronized and the KXRPC service is installed on all of them.
You may also be able to look in the %temp% folder on the Windows 9x computers for a KiXtart log that may show some error.
