Hello all,
ISSUE:
I have a very perplexing issue. I have configured Kixtart to map a network drive that exists on another "non-trusted" windows 2000 domain. I have set the Username and password parameters within the Kixtart script.
The script has ran correctly and the "V:" drive has been mapped properly to the remote server share in the past.
DIAGNOSIS:
Now comes the strange part. Gradually and spontaniously the V: drive mapping is disappearing from the client computers. I have tried repeated logins with the 'failed' user accounts but the V: drive will not show up.
I have downloaded the latest Kixtart application, version 4.20, and ran the script with it which didn't produce a fix.
WORKAROUND:
For now I am having the failed user's computer map the drive manually. I don't know why this works and the script based drive mapping doesn't, but that's how it is.
HYPOTHESIS:
I think there may be something inhibiting the initial authentication traffic that Kixtart generates, but I don't know for sure. We have a Cisco PIX firewall between the two domains.
CONCLUSION:
If anyone out there can help, you would become my personal hero-of-the-day.
Suggestions??????????
-A stumped LAN MAN....
