I should have been more specific .
I need to check particurarly for WINS / DNS settings .

I gave a look at the checknics but it seemed to me that it also tries to modify the registry.

I need only to check for the settings
Thanks

Okay.. well if you say the UDFs don't do what you want, then please list the following information so that we can help you better.

1. What version of KiXtart are you using?
2. What clients do you have to support with this? 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP?
3. What Server version NT/2000 AD?
4. Do you run Microsoft DHCP or other?
5. Do you use Microsoft WINS or other?

Which specific values are you looking for?

Host Name?
Primary DNS Suffix?
Node Type?
IP Routing Enabled?
WINS Proxy Enabled?
DNS Suffix Search List?
IP Address?
Subnet Mask?
Default Gateway?
DHCP Server?
DNS Servers?
Physical Address?

Or some other setting.s

Please be specific with all of the above information so that we will be better informed to assist you.

Please review the FAQs on this board as well while awaiting a reply. It may help you to help yourself with this task as well.

enumipinfoall() will give you ip-address...
you might need to dig into registry for the other info.

getipinfo() should give all but you need to extend it as it's currently in very limited form.

well, we will see.
someone might code something for you if he has free time in hands... [Big Grin]

You could also use 'IPCONFIG /ALL' piped into a text file and then use IsStringInFile to check whether your e.g. DNS server is part of the file or parse the file for more granularity.

Or you can use WMI to check adapter-specific settings.

if you use WSHPipe() UDF

code:

$WinsServer=trim(split(WSHPipe('%comspec% /c ipconfig /all| find "Primary WINS Server"',1)[0],':')[1])

Anyone want to see if this works??

GetIpInfo() already uses piping of ipconfig.

the problem comes from the domain-name search list.
it is not that simple to parse.
