Austin Austin Seasoned Scripter Registered: 2002-01-24 Posts: 439	I am looking to develop a script to change a users password.. but here is the catch. I have several exes that I have found around the Internet that I can shell out and use but the trouble seems to be that after a user changes his/her password the cached password on the client is no longer valid and access to those resources are no loger good. Any way to "refresh" that cached password so to speak? Thanks _________________________ Austin Henderson

They have to get a new Token from the Server. Logoff( ) Action: Logs the current user off and ends the Windows session. Syntax: LOGOFF (force) Parameters: Force During a logoff operation, applications that are shut down are allowed a specific amount of time to respond to the logoff request. If the time expires, Windows displays a dialog box that allows the user to forcibly shut down the application, to retry the logoff, or to cancel the logoff request. If the Force value is true (ie : non-zero), Windows always forces applications to close and does not display the dialog box. 0 Windows does not force applications to close. 1 Windows always forces applications to close and does not display the dialog box. Returns: 0 User logged off Error code Function failed

Does not matter if it happens via GUI or SCRIPT or COMMAND-LINE

Personally I'd remove the Windows password and have it be blank. No real need for it anyways. The issue though of changing the NT Domain User Network password is that it does not matter how it is done. The user will still be able to access anything they have already opened, but anything new, would give them an Access Denied message. This is by Design for Security reasons. Without some black magic hacking... I don't know of any legitamate way accept to log the user off and log back on to get a new Security Token based on the new password.

Austin Austin Seasoned Scripter Registered: 2002-01-24 Posts: 439	well my app works like a champ... one problem. I have users who are mobile.. they log into my network via vpn. Currently they change their password using the built in "feature" this must refresh the local security credentials because once the user logs out of their laptop they are able to get back in with the new password. Now my problem is can I replicate this using kix. I change the passwords just fine.. but laptop users cant log in with their new password only their old. Then they will come back into the VPN which will ask them for their password because the cached one is old... and then open resources that will again either deny them or ask for password.
