I was in heavy construction for decades and electronics was my hobby. When PCs first came on the scene, I built a Sinclair ZX81 from a kit and that started my addiction.
First with Z80 machine code and BASIC, on to Motorola's 6809 machine, and then assembler. I realized then that I was not cut out to be a real programmer and concentrated more with hardware.
I eventually left construction and went full time into the computer field. First in repair and servicing, then on to network design. Invariably, when networks are involved, so to are logon scripts.
I consider myself a reluctant programmer. I program for myself. No murphy-proofing here. If the effort to program is less than the effort to hand bomb, then I just might code it, unless someone else does the hand bombing.
