Sealeopard Sealeopard KiX Master Registered: 2001-04-25 Posts: 11165 Loc: Boston, MA, USA	Started teaching myself in 1985 on an Atari ST using the not-well-know GfA-Basic, got an introduction to Pacal and MC680x0 assembler during my studies, used C++ for my Masters thesis, dabbled a little bit with VisualBasic, then focused on the Matlab scripting language (matrix-based math, on which the current KIXGolf is based) and discovered KiXtart. I'm currently trying to get a grip on the National Instruments LabView environment. Oh, and I don't even have an IT-related degree since I'm a Biomedical Engineer working on a Business-Masters in my spare time. Kellar: If you have specific questions to the current KiXtart challange, I welcome you to post them inthe KiXGolfthread. We will start the second, public coding phase this afternoon. Participants will post their code and everybody is welcome to imrove the scores. However, as this code tends to be literally unreadable (it sometimes looks like an Chimpanzee created it by just randomly hitting a keyboard), you mgith want to get a little head start and understand the underlying problem that was to be solved. The example posted in the first post of the current KiXGolf will also give you a good introduction into what KiXGolf is about. Finally, KiXGolf is always pushing the limits of KiXtart. Anonymous Anonymous Unregistered	Interesting stuff. I was wondering because the advice that is passed on in this forum tends to be excellent, not to mention timely. Which led me to wonder what the background of some of the moderators is. I am going to be checking the KiXGolf posts out more today, cool concept.

Around 5:30AM my program was low score. Went to bed when the sun came up. Now just trying to shave a couple more strokes. I used to be a Certified Auto Mechanic, but knew that I did not want to have to be crawling under cars/trucks when I was 60 years old. After about 13 years or so of doing that... I went to school in the evenings. 4 hours a night 5 nights a week for 2 years to get an AA degree in Electronics. Then got a job in Electronics shop at Disney. Did that for a few years, then when my brother got sick I took over for him in the Electronic Estimating group. They liked my work and asked if I could stay on in that department. Worked there for about 6 years then got laid off. Went back to Auto Mechanics for another year and a half as could not find work in Electronics field. Then got a call from an old friend at Disney asking if I was looking for work. Came in and interviewed with IS department with no experience except my own self taught knowledge. They hired me in the department. Have been working in IS now since 1996 Got my MCSE a few years ago, but have no formal training in programming at all. I try to learn what I can from some of the guys around here as well. I'm still a long way off from some of their levels, but I have learned quite a bit in this past year thanks to the nice guys around here. Keep plugging away...

When PCs first came on the scene, I built a Sinclair ZX81 from a kit and that started my addiction. First with Z80 machine code and BASIC, on to Motorola's 6809 machine, and then assembler. I realized then that I was not cut out to be a real programmer and concentrated more with hardware. I eventually left construction and went full time into the computer field. First in repair and servicing, then on to network design. Invariably, when networks are involved, so to are logon scripts. I consider myself a reluctant programmer. I program for myself. No murphy-proofing here. If the effort to program is less than the effort to hand bomb, then I just might code it, unless someone else does the hand bombing. _________________________ Give a man a fish and he will be back for more.
