Hello All,

Does anyone know a method I can use in a logon script to differentiate between a laptop and a desktop computer?

Thanks,

Brad

Why do you want that?

Does the notebooks make a RAS connection or not.

If so you can use the following:
IF @RAS=yes

Or you can seperate them by computername

for example.
Start the Computername of a notebook with NB and the name of a computer with PC.

We are using the computername in order to seperate them.

No, actually there are some things I do in the registry that I don't want to do on a laptop. This applies whether it is dialing in or is directly connected to the LAN. I'm looking for a key in the registry that would always be different on laptops as opposed to desktops.

Thanks!

Brad

How about looking for something hardware specific like the amount of RAM, the NIC driver, the size of a drive, PC Card services or the video driver/card?

It may not be the way you want to do it.
But it works.

In the root of the notebooks you place a dummie file.

When login in let the script search the file.

If excist file then .... else ....
