Hi,

I'm using KEYEXIST to detect if various packages are installed. My script works fine under Wint2K but under 95 and 98 none of the KEYEXIST lines seem to work. Is there a known problem with this statement on 9x ?

for the keyexist don't know but for checking remotely, you have to specifically enable remote registry.

or to check for current user hive, which is not available.

where are you checking (logonscript?) and what subkeys?

the audit.kix script is being called from the main network logon script, yes.
it's definately running audit.kix cause it's making the logfile OK.

so then, if you have log-file, do you have also error-check to see if the keyexist wasn't succesfull, what was the error?

after testing audit.kix on a 98 box, it seems that KEYEXIST commands are returning 0 all the time, even though the registry key that they're checking does in fact exist.

code:
$office2K = KEYEXIST("HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Office\8.0")

that's OK isn't it? it returns 0 [Frown]
