KiXtart_Freshman KiXtart_Freshman Fresh Scripter Registered: 2002-11-21 Posts: 22	Need help with something... I'm trying to place a [/v] switch for the "copy" command. But whenever I use the switch, it doesn't copy. When I leave off the switch, it works. What am I doing wrong? code: Copy "S:\DIR\CODIR\zipdat.out" $HD_DRV+"\CODIR\DIR\OUT" /v Thanks in advance.

Were did you come up with a /v switch? {edit} and I see Waltz was kind enough to excerpt it but then removed it. [ 26. So far, all of your questions could have been answerd by A) Checking the KiXtart Manual for KiXtart functions/commands B) Checking the command help for shell commands by typing ' /?', e.g. 'copy /?' at the Command Prompt. The KiXtart "Copy" command does not use that switch. The DOS "Copy" command does. That means that you will have to use SHELL or RUN to invoke an external command/program. You have to learn the difference between a KiXtart command and an operating system/DOS command or utility and when to use each. [ 26. But you also have to realized that the basic lesson for any IT professional is to do some due diligence in understanding how and where to get the info. We are more then willing to help with problems related to the interpretation of documentation and the giving general advice on how to approach a problem, but you shouldn't use the board as an on-line manual. I tried in my last post to give you the piece of info that seemed relevant. That being that KiXtart and the DOS environment share command and possibly function names. You need to read sufficiently to understand that and which commands/functions might be affected. Feel free to post as often as necessary. [ 26. And I apologize to everyone else whom I may have offended from my posts. I guess I'll just have to try and research harder before I post. But unlike some of you who have been doing these things for years, I'm a new graduate. And apparently, I was not thought anything about DOS or Kixtart in school. So my means of learning includes the manual and this board. Thanks for everyone's patience.
