RIght got it... It does stink that it wont accept just any CD... it does not have to be the same cd but the data1.msi file has to be the same version.. i.e. SR-1 or whatever.

Regarding the admin install point... I will explain again and then we can just let it go. I have computers that are in remote lans... I am visiting and installing Office 2K on them. Once I get it installed I use ohotfix to apply the 30 million patches MS has out... I have this on a cd and using kix apply the ones necessary. Well you see the hotfixes are on a cd... data link is to slow... and then when it goes to patch office it wants the original media... this is bad.. so as stated it was installed from cd first.. e:\ I wanted to change it to a temporary position to a shared cd drive in that LAN just for the patching time.... then I was going to change it to my admin install point for future patches when I will not be there.... thanks for your help.. I do think that is odd about the PRODID but it worked for me.
