Sunnie:

I guess using parenthesis (sp?) would help eh ?

code:

Case (( ingroup ("\\Server\Baseball") = 2) and (ingroup ("\\Server\Scouting") = 2))

use u: "\\Server\Bball$$"
use s: "\\Server1\Scouting$$"

I hear yeh - been a long day for me too ! And this thread is getting pretty scary !

Shawn.

p.s. Dumb question - but have you double-checked that this "user" is in both groups and that both groups are indeed - local groups ?

p.p.s

Plus I noticed you dropped the "1" from your \\server1 sharename... sorry Sunnie if I'm pointing out typos and stuff - just trying to help !

Shawn.

Shawn...

Thanks for the idea with the (), but that didn't work, either. And, I did drop the 1 from the server, but that's only because I changed the names before posting it here, and I kind of go back and forth for my samples.

I thought of the same thing with the groups, but they both are indeed local groups. I just can't figure out why this part of it is giving me such a hard time.

I tried combining the two local group names in one of the cases, I tried using an if/end if statement imbedded in a case, and I tried your idea of the () while using the combined local groups in the case.

I'm out of ideas, really. There is no reason why this coding shouldn't work.

If anyone has any other ideas for me to try, please post them!!

Thanks for your input, Shawn!!

Sunnie

Sunnie:

Why don't you try putting the following code outside (after) your select/case statement ...

if ingroup ( "\\server\scouting" )
use s: \\...
endif

Then - for this user that is a member of both the baseball and scouting groups will have their u: drive mapped in the case - and thier s: drive will be mapped outside of the case - then you can debug from there.

You might also want to check the value of @error after your ingroup() to see if that's being set to anything !

Shawn.

Hope your working late tonight !

It's been such a long day and I'm such a doh-head for not asking this earlier !

Go check the NTFS permissions on your \\server\bball$ and \\server\scouting$ shares and make sure your permissions are setup correctly !

Else, place these ...

?"error=@error"

debug statements after your USE statements
and check if they are returning error code 5 (or whatever).

If this is the problem - you owe me a coffee at starbucks !

Good luck buddy !

Shawn.

Hi everyone!!

Thank you Shawn for all of your input...for some reason I was able to figure out how to write the script, and it works!!!

Shawn, I used the compound expression within the select case along with the (), and it finally worked!! So, thanks for your expertise on that case!

Let's see how you do on this question:

I have users that their user id does not match the name on their personal drive. For instance: if my login name was binkney, but my personal drive on T:\is sbinkney. Win95 will not connect me to that drive. But in NT, it will.

Any solutions to that??

Thanks, Sunnie

That was MY suggestion, but they don't seem to want to do that. They want to keep everything "uniformed." I think they missed that boad at the beginning!!!!

I got it...

FYI...

If anyone faces this situation, you can use @homedrv (I think that's the actual code). But that will work!!
